Leicestershire Online Parish Clerks is a website designed to help family historians with queries related to entries to Church of England (Anglican) parish registers. Although much of this information is on the internet in various forms, online parish clerks can help with the local knowledge of parishes and their records.

The online parish clerk scheme began in Cornwall and now a number of counties operate independent websites. Some publish transcriptions of parish register entries and other sources, while others offer a lookup service to enquirers.

Leicestershire OPC currently offers a lookup service in all Anglican registers that have been deposited with Leicestershire Archives. Please bear in mind that the service is administered by volunteers. They cannot undertake extensive family history research but will do their best to assist with any reasonable enquiries

Please note that Leicestershire OPC has no connection with local government. Each modern civil parish has a parish clerk with administrative responsibilities unconnected with family history.

If you have a family history enquiry about a parish register entry please contact us here.
